An iwagumi-style aquascape is a popular and minimalistic layout design in the world of aquascaping. Derived from the Japanese word for "rock formation," iwagumi emphasizes simplicity, balance, and harmony. This style showcases carefully arranged rocks, typically odd-numbered, to create a dramatic focal point within an aquarium. The rocks are meticulously placed to convey a sense of natural beauty and create a serene, minimalist environment for aquatic plants and fish. The key principle behind iwagumi is the use of carefully selected and arranged rocks to provide a sense of depth and perspective, complementing the vibrant aquatic flora, with usually only 2 or 3 species of plants.
